La Fabbrica del Sole is formally a no-profit organisation and a coop (profit), but it works as an affinity group. That guarantees minimum wage and use of the coop's resources (homes, cars, etc.) to those who work in it, talent scouting, trips,…without which we could never free the best resources around us from frustration. Overall, we must discourage political and financial opportunism, because this way of working (which is dominant and widespread) is sterile and has brought global ruins.
It's definitely time to build, to plan, a campaign that is revolutionary in every way.
We are convinced, as far as all that we have said is concerned, that we could find sincere comrades that will enable us to give life and voice to our enterprise.

La Fabbrica del Sole, literally 'the factory of the sun', draws its name from the echo of the renaissance 'Fabrica', like Michelangelo's, or the Andy Wahrol 'Fabrics' or from 'The Plant' of the workers movement and the pride of the proletarian culture of the past century.

To make the sun is programmatically impossible so our activity starts with a strong tension toward Utopia and bends right after toward very practical and material actions.

We follow the concept of a strategic withdrawal from the large scale. We are trying, first, to strengthen ourselves on a local scale and then to attack more strongly, and possibly on all fronts, the rest. We also believe that the rest will rapidly fall in to a major crisis. The importance of different and alternative models is therefore vital.

The concept of anarchist municipalism is helping us to communicate and determine historically our position. From Athens, Plato and the Polis up to the 1930 Catalan experience and today with the huge community on the web: still an affinity group. Anarchy is not 'great mess' but a human need of freedom. Municipalism is the proper scale to see our efforts fully realised but the continuous comparison with the others is crucial: the system must be open.

We strongly want, because our youth and our sense of responsibility is claiming it, to pass from criticism, the 'pars destruens' to models, the 'construens' one. Stop dividing ourselves in the name of subtle and often academically distinctions is, today, a must as well as the seeking of unity and proposals for new models of society, life organisation, political organisation and fight.

The importance we accord to ecology is fundamental. Ecology and not environmentalism, i.e. the practise of making low level politics with environmental words not taking in account the problem of the Capital. Intuitively the 'problem of the Capital' is that attitude of accumulating and concentrating resources, money and power with no limit and in the hands of a person or a structure with no sense or logic. Just for the hell of it. Is usually called a 'mania'. Ecology is the contrary. Is living in the natural context in a necessarily sustainable manner.

The question whether or not any development could ever be sustainable is not considered here but what we are really concerned of is the use of technology. Technology must be on our side. On the side of mankind. Must be exploited by man and not vice versa.

Knowledge is another important aspect of our political belief. The Polis is the process of knowing you territory and acting on it. The language is deadly connected to the knowledge and the of language, in a broad sense, differences are the vital lymph of the knowledge.

The dominant language, the operative language, always in broad sense (finance or science and their techniques are, after all, merely a question of language) have, at least!, to be learnt by us. A different Language can be found starting from the existing ones and not ignoring them. Is therefore important to know how people and structures actually talk and operate with no limitations or ideological prejudice.

The intense exchange of data and information annihilate the chance of resistance of the cultural, moral and linguistic differences on earth. The preservation of local tradition, of witch our land is terribly rich, is one of our goal.
On the other hand the dialogue on the sense and the comparison between different interpretations of reality is spiritually challenging, fruitful and welcome.

Our proposal is a local government driven by an Agorà, a permanent city assembly in continuous relationship with the administration. Administrtion must be separated and submitted to politics, i.e. the activity and the will of the Polis.
The global interaction with similar experiences and with the whole reality is of fundamental importance.

Our starting organisation is a 'associazione culturale' and a 'cooperativa' but legal constrains are not forcing us in any rigid scheme. We want to remain an open 'gruppo di affinità'.

The practical activity, from which we drain resources, looks like an agency of innovation. We started projects on most of the crucial segments of production and society.

At present we are carrying on the building of the first compost plant with high technology and zero environmental impact in our territory. The experimentation in the use of the final high quality compost in agriculture is starting in collaboration with local institutions.
In our intentions there is. also, the project of producing and distributing soon fuel cells, electric generator powered with Hydrogen, or methane or even better methanol obtained out of agriculture waste (see www.fuelcells.com). A cheap, zero emission technology able to strike the oil and non-electrical engine business.

We rented in Farnetella, near Arezzo, a typical rural building to open there a 'locanda' a place where to eat, sing, talk in a 'Convivio' and rest (with sleeping rooms upstairs!). The food is coming from little biological producers of the surroundings and prepared according to old and local receipts. The activity of agricultural production is starting with officinal plants and the growing of typical species in damage, like the 'cinta senese' and 'asino amiatino'.

Linux, the computer operating system (see www.linux.org) is offering a good open, democratic alternative to the ruling commercial systems. The way in which the whole linux experience has come out is encouraging and promising for the future: a collective, no-profit corporation works better than private ones. We are trying do promote and helping the diffusion and the knowledge of the system on the territoy. Special initiative, seminars, assistance and workgroups are in schedule for the immediate future. The collaboration with schools, public institutions, no-profit associations and even private societies has already started.

The problem of financing projects with social and environmental virtues is attacked joining and supporting the Banca Etica, 'Ethic Bank' (www.bancaetica.com in italian). This is still a little structure with good chances of creating something good and useful.

The total unconditioned support of any kind of expression or cultural activities is central in our vision. N30 in Arezzo and the public events in witch we offered traditional food are examples and absolutely non exhaustive. The promotion of artist and cultural events is our main concern.

Now we need support, advises and critics.
The process has just begun but so far no one could have stopped us!
